We currently source our certified organic cotton from two organic cotton suppliers, with whom we work very closely.  When it is available, we use certified Fairtrade cotton, and when it is not available we are nevertheless confident that our cotton is fairly traded (meaning that farmers are paid a reasonable and normally premium price for their cotton, and are not exploited in the process). All of our cotton from both suppliers is certified organic by one or more of the following:
Soil Association: We are delighted that our Soil Association certification has been renewed for a second year.   Only our fleece range is not covered by the Soil Association certification (because the fleece we hold in stock predates our Soil Association licence).
Ethical Trading Initiative: Soil Association certification also ensures that our supply chain meets the Base Code criteria of the Ethical Trading Initiative. See www.ethicaltrade.org for more information.
Control Union (formerly SKAL): CU is an internationally recognised (Dutch) body, which ensures that the cotton is grown organically, and that the processing (spinning, weaving, washing, dyeing, etc) is undertaken in an environmentally responsible way.
GOTS: Our garments also adhere to the GLOBAL ORGANIC TEXTILE STANDARDS.
Our dyes: The dyes used on our fabrics are not organic themselves, but meet the Oeko-tex 100 standard, which protects against harmful substances. They are also covered by the obove organic inspection processes.

We remain a small company, passionate about what we do, and we love working with a whole network of like-minded people - our partners.  We work with local people whenever we can, most importantly the brilliant people in Nottingham who manufacture our entire range; also the designers who work on our textile prints, the photographers, designers and printers who work on our catalogue - most of them a stone's throw away from us - and the list goes on.  All of these partnerships make our business what it is and result in what we think is a stunning, locally conceived and made collection.
We are passionate about supporting the local textile sector and workers.  We have worked with the factory in Nottingham since we started and have a close working relationship, which allows us flexibility and excellent quality control.  This gives us the confidence to know the conditions under which our garments are being manufactured and we believe that the quality they produce is unbeatable.  We are delighted that the factory is approved to make our clothes by the Soil Association.
